best foods to eat in long beach

since i’m moving out of long beach soon, i thought i’d compile a list of things i’ve enjoyed eating over the past 5 years. also this is in no particular order, just whatever comes to mind! this is probably more geared towards younger people and those who want good food for a good price. if you want that fancy bougie type restaurant, you can good best food in long beach!

aburi sushi

this place is nothing short of amazing. it is a little pricier than other AYCE sushi restaurants, but in my opinion it’s worth the extra buckaroos. my favorite roll to get is the sashimi roll. if you’re ballin on a budget, i suggest going on a weekday during lunch because it’s less crowded and cheaper.

simone’s donuts

the best 24 hr place in long beach! i’ve been here so many times during my college career and if you’re in long beach definitely check it out!  if you’ve been to seaside donuts in newport, it’s the same owners! get the jalapeño ham and cheese croissant! they’ll even heat it up for you. if you’re craving something sweet, try the cronut! it’s glazed, flaky perfection! also if you’re a thai tea fan, this is probably the cheapest most quality thai tea you’ll find in the area. if you’re feeling adventurous, try the green thai tea!

deli news pizza

this is a small restaurant located super close to csulb and it’s has been open for 25 years. they have delicious affordable italian food. the pizza is what they’re most known for but my favorite thing to order is the linguini with shrimp and white garlic sauce. it’s only $7.75 and it comes with a big serving of pasta, a good amount of shrimp and 2 pieces of garlic bread. also if you get a chance, you should try their cookies!

holé molé

i am not kidding when i tell you that for 3 months straight, i went here for taco tuesday and ordered the same exact thing.   THE FISH TACOS ARE EVERYTHING YOU COULD EVER ASK FOR IN A TACO. so they’re known for these ensenada style fish tacos and on tuesdays they’re a little over a dollar. the salsa bar is great and if you get a chance, try the horchata!

i’m giving this place a little shoutout because not a lot of people know about it. it’s a small thai restaurant that is super aesthetic on the inside. my favorite thing to get is the spareribs thai ramen. if you’re ever craving thai food/noodles/soup, give this place a try!

poke kai

giving this a mention because it’s so close to campus and way better than the trash poke they serve at school. (yikes) they have a pre-made hawaiian style salmon and tuna which is really tasty. they also give you a lot of food which is something i look for in a good poke place. they have a good selection of fish, and the bowl comes with avocado crabmeat and seaweed salad with no extra charge AYYYYY

schooner or later

this place is one of my favorite breakfast/brunch places to go to with a group of friends. you know this place is the real deal because it’s been featured on the food network. also it’s super pretty and by the marina so if the weather is nice, definitely try to sit outside. my two favorite things to order are “the mess” and the crab and avocado benedict. the mess is like all things breakfast thrown together but in the best way possible. try it with avocado on top!

fantastic cafe

hands down my favorite breakfast burrito in long beach. i always order the steak breakfast burrito and it has hash browns, big pieces of steak, an egg lining, and many more things and it is so delicious. also make sure to get some of the delicious salsa to eat with your burrito. also you can order breakfast all day and they close at 11pm.

seoulmate

this is a korean fusion restaurant which i think is the cutest little date spot. it’s right across the street from wilson high school so sometimes there’s a lot of kids there but the seating is outdoor and it’s decorated so cute. my favorite thing to order is the old boy with an egg. it’s a burrito that has bulgogi, lime rice, kimchi, cilantro, onions, lettuce all in a warm tortilla. it is to die for!

the pan

this is another really good breakfast place in long beach! it is kinda small, so on weekends it’s pretty packed but it’s worth it! my favorite thing to get here is the loaded hash browns. it’s a huge portion and there’s this super yummy garlic aioli sauce on top.

zero express

this is a boba place that is walking distance from csulb. the menu has expanded quite a bit since opening but my favorites are still the strawberry milk and watermelon slush. they also serve food here and the popcorn chicken is pretty bomb.com
